Running uphill
Keep the effort, not the pace.
Shorten your stride, lean slightly into the hill from the ankles and drive with the arms.
Run by effort: your pace will drop, and that's fine. Trying to hold flat-ground pace uphill burns energy you'll need later.
On very steep trail climbs, brisk walking with hands on thighs is often as fast as running and costs less. Good trail runners walk too.
Short steps, strong arms, steady effort.
Quick check .
How should you run uphill?
Pace will drop, and that's fine; on very steep ramps, power hiking works too.
