Running downhill
Quick feet, body over your feet.
Take short, quick steps and keep your body roughly perpendicular to the slope: leaning back makes you brake with every step.
Look a few metres ahead to pick your line, and use your arms for balance. On technical Mallorca trails, slower and controlled beats fast and stiff.
Downhills load the quadriceps eccentrically, which is why they leave you sore. Practise them little by little: the muscles adapt quickly and suffer less the next time.
Short, quick steps, and train downhills too.
Quick check .
Why do downhills leave you sore?
