Rocker
Why many soles are curved like a rocking chair.
A rocker is a sole curved up at the toe, and often at the heel. Instead of bending, the shoe rolls you from landing to toe-off.
It reduces the work at the ankle and big toe, which matters in thick, stiff shoes that can't flex.
An aggressive rocker feels fast but can feel unstable when walking or running slowly.
If a shoe feels like it 'pushes you forward', that's the rocker.
